Independent American Party Stands Up to Bloomberg

Opposes Petition that Erodes Gun Rights in Nevada

The Independent American Party opposes the anti-gun rights petition filed with the Nevada Secretary of State on June 20, 2014. The petition was filed by the Committee for Background Checks, which is affiliated with Everytown for Gun Safety financed by New York City ex-Mayor Bloomberg and Boston ex-Mayor Tom Menino.

“We don’t need Eastern Big City mayors telling us what to do in Nevada,” stated John Wagner, Chairman of the Independent American Party. “We have seen that restrictive gun laws in New York, Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C. lead to more crime. Crime statistics prove that criminals prefer unarmed victims. Wherever gun rights have been curtailed, crime goes up.”

The petition, which mandates background checks on almost all gun sales, is nearly the same as State Senator Justin Jones’ bill SB221. The bill was vetoed by Governor Sandoval in 2013 and rejected overwhelmingly by the people in Nevada. The Governor received an unprecedented number of calls from June 6 to June 12, 2013 with 152,995 opposing the gun bill and 27,465 in favo, many of which were from out of state and generated by Bloomberg.

“Mayor Bloomberg has plenty of money to pay people to collect signatures. He has a right to do that under the First Amendment. He should read the Second Amendment where it says “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed,” continued Wagner.

“The Independent American Party will work to get the message out to Nevada’s voters…Don’t sign the anti-gun petition. We believe that the voters of Nevada will see that a billionaire from New York is trying to buy a gun control law and then impose it on Nevadans and all Americans,” concluded John Wagner, State Chairman Independent American Party.

Last year, the IAP grew at about a 20% growth. This year is has grown over 10% in just 3 months. It can be a major party in Nevada by the 2014 elections. You can still vote in the general election for any candidate that you chose, but you will make a difference by helping Nevada have 3 major parties. Let our representative know that you have had enough.

You can make a difference!

In the 2010 election campaign, our governor promised no new taxes, he didn't keep his promise when it came to the sunset taxes. We must not reelect people who do not keep their campaign promises.

David Lory VanDerBeek is running for Govenor in 2014. Visit his web site.

  1. Do you want to stop the ever increasing taxes?
  2. Do you want to stimulate the economy?
  3. Do you want to eliminate the waste in government?
  4. Do you want to improve Nevada's educational system?
  5. Do you want to reduce illegal immigration?

Now is the time to take action. Now is the time fight back.

What happened?

The Republicans and Democrats happened!

The Republicans and Democrats have been in control of government for the past century.

How is that working out for you?

Have you ever wondered who is responsible for getting this nation into the position that we are currently in? If you ask the Democrats and Republicans, they point the finger at each other. We point the finger at both of those parties because they have put politics and power above the welfare of the people.

It is time to put your welfare and the future of our country above politics.

End the 2 party system which controls our country.
